Mikagami is neither sweet nor affectionate. He doesn’t have a sense of humor and he hardly ever smiles. But don’t judge him just yet. He may not be that type of guy but there’s more to him than meets the eye.
Mikagami is serious, observant, confident, and intelligent. Everything he does is for a purpose. When he talks, he talks frankly and straight to the point – no beating around the bush. He is always sure of himself, and unlike reckless Recca, he thinks before he acts. He is tough and skilled and an expert in handling the ensui. He is silent at times but it’s mostly because he is either observing the enemy, planning a strategy, or both.

Here’s a list of Sano’s hobbies: gambling, eating, spying, criticizing Kenshin, making fun of Yahiko, getting whacked by Kaoru, chewing a fishbone, and… punching villains to the brink of unconsciousness.
So why is Sano in the “Born to Fight” category when he should be in the “Mr. Lazybones With No Real Hobbies” category? Well, aside from the fact that that category does not exist, Sano has a splendid fighting skill with a good sense of logic to match. His greatest asset is his strength, which is reflected in his lethal punches. Side by side with Kenshin, and sometimes Kaoru and Yahiko too, the opponents get knocked out with quite painful injuries. His strong fists are his pride and he’s always ready to join in the fight when the situation calls for it. And he enjoys it too. But like Kenshin, Sano is a great believer of life and however he fights, he does not wish to bring death to his opponents. And whenever his friends are in danger, he will always try to find a way to get them out of it.
Sano may be lazy and he may not have any real hobbies, but when it comes to the fight scene, he’s one heck of a fighter.
