Bamboo Blade

I had no real expectations for this anime except that I thought I’d be dropping it after the first episode, thinking it will mostly consist of cutesy girls rather than real action. Though, considering I actually picked it up to begin with (the term “Bamboo Blade” just sounded cool), I must have given it more of a chance than I thought I would.

So I watched the first episode, preparing to cringe or raise an eyebrow, but never really did. It wasn’t exceptional but it wasn’t as annoying as I thought. The guy irritated me a bit and I found some of its humor corny, but the anime actually revealed some potential coolness. One of the characters, Tama-chan, and a promised fight between her and a sadistic bully became the reason I watched the next episode. After which, I found more reasons to watch the anime, mostly because of the characters, like nice girl Miya-Miya who has a dark hidden personality, or ‘random’ girl Saya whose silly random-ness is just whacky.

So obviously, the show entertained me enough to keep on watching. I now have higher expectations and hope not to get disappointed.
